The battle lines are being drawn!

WE ARE OVERBOOKED AS A FAMILY!!!  With new challenges working and new activities, I've decided we are way overbooked this semester.  I think the hardest part about being a mom these days is that we have so many wonderful activities that my children want to do but I struggle to balance.

The problem is that as a family we only have well Sunday where we don't have either sports, dance or gym.  I have tried to handle this dilemma in the best way I know how, we shouldn't be doing sports.  After all the gym and dance is in the same place and has WiFi and air-conditioning and/or heating.  They also have concessions: sodas, fresh popcorn, ottis spunkmeyer cookies, etc.  That is called watching your kids in style!  Unfortunately Chris thinks that is blasphemy.  That his children, especially his boys need to be doing manly sports.

I don't get it!  Harm's coach David (pictured above) can do a triple flip.  I would challenge a 16 yr old football player to do that.  There is nothing wrong with sports at all!!!  My brothers used to do both.  My eldest 1/2 brothers did everything from gym to football to even ballet at one point.  No one would ever try to tell them in all their athletic glory they were not real men.  My problem with sports really just comes from connivence.  The t-ball is very challenging at 3x a week practices and 2 hour games weekly (sometimes 2x a week).  If it were not for Harm's coach in soccer and t-ball and his wonderful wife Crystal there is no way I would even consider this (after all last season Harm's favorite thing was to sleep in the outfield).  The twins soccer is on the other side of town and they expect us to sit on grass which makes my allergies go bonkers.

So for now, the deal has been made.  I do all the gym and Chris does all the sports.  That means he has to leave work early to get the twins to soccer and Harm to practice.  He organizes their stuff and makes sure they are where they need to be.  Crystal (thank Heavens) really helps fill in the blanks a lot when he can't do it.  I, on the other hand, am officially the gym mom.  This year all 3 kids were moved up and I am super duper blessed that this means that we have practice only for one hour on Tue, Fri, and Sat.

This works this year, but next year Harm might be on the competition team and if that is the case we might be sparring over the great debate.
