Suicidal Birthday Party...

So my loving husband last night wanted to help celebrate an early birthday. So he picked this one restaurant that is the most popular in the area. I've been going there since I was a small child it has has beautiful Macaws, Parrots, and Tucans in the lobby.Of course this was the first attempt at a restaurant since the twins were born. Yup you guessed where this was going. Add in 5 members of my family, 2 two year toddlers (my beautiful niece Sienna was there in addition to Harm) the night was a disaster.

Our table wasn't big enough when we first got there b/c the tots wouldn't sit in the high chairs and there was NO space for two carseats. So they tell us we have to leave the table b/c it is a fire risk. Fortunately another table opened up but by than the toddlers were all frustrated and running wild while the babies were on a rampage. Rach was ANGRY for no reason and proceeded to cry for the next hour while Call wanted a second dinner. We were trying SOOOO hard to keep things calm and not be a nuisance.

The food was slow in getting out, the natives were restless but I couldn't help but have a good time. Chris was so sweet to put it all together and my family was great entertainment as always. I just think perhaps next year we shall have a party at home ;)

The joy of twins...

People often comment on how hard it must be to have twins. I agree it is hard but it is also wonderful. Here are some of the advantages to having twins.

  1. They keep each other company at night and hardly ever wake up in the middle of the night
  2. They hold each others hands and look at each other smiling when they are lying on the couch or crib together
  3. When one doesn't want to snuggle the other always does
  4. They don't get jealous of one another when you are showing one special time
  5. They each have very separate personalities. You love each one for who they are and not just as twins
  6. Harmon is so cute as he plays with his baby sister and is jealous of his baby brother
  7. I got twice the babies for one pregnancy
  8. Daddy looks soooo cute tandem feeding them on his big recliner
  9. They are fun to coordinate clothes with and dress up
  10. Each one is a very special miracle and I am soooo blessed to have them as children!

Beautiful Girl

For me being the mom of a little girl is a lot harder than being a mom of boys. I dunno, it is easier to be rough and tumble with a little boy. I don't worry about dressing them up or worry about them being considered beautiful. The other day one of my brother in laws said Rachel was Callum and others have noted how they only wear sleepers (and she isn't all fancy).
So I am trying to be better about that. Trying to remember to put bows on her and the pretty outfits. I don't want her being lost in a sea of brothers. I want her to feel beautiful. I remember growing up I didn't feel very pretty and so I don't want Rachel doubting that ever.

Scaredy Pig...

We call Callum Pig. that is his nick name. I adore this little guy! He has the most gentle sweet soul that I've ever seen. What is funny is that he is a scaredy pants. He is scared of the dark, scared of Daddy playing tossing him gently, scared of tummy time, scared of the car, etc. This is different for us b/c Harmon is the biggest daredevil but I really like it. Goes to show what a sweet spirit he has but I worry about how Boy Scout Campouts one day will go.

Two Years and 1 Day Ago...

My precious little boy was born.

Dear Harmon,

At 3 o'clock I sat on an operating table and the doctor asked if I was ready for you to be born. Being scared (after all this was my first surgery) I told the doctor "you had better be cuter than my dog". 5 minutes later you emerged and I heard your cute little cry (it sounded like a little Billy Goat) and they cleaned you all up, placed you near me and I exclaimed "you are cuter than the dog!".

From that moment on it has been true love. I always wanted you near my side. You have been my best buddy. Your smile lights up my world. I take you to work with me and you charm everyone around. I love you so much dear Harmon. I miss you being my little little baby whom sat next to me while I typed on the computer but I love the little mini man that you are. I love your zest for life and that big smile that lights up a room. Never doubt that you are my life.

XOXOXO,

Mommy

Diaper Daze...

Quick funny story. So lately Harm's latest hobby is taking off his diaper. I can live with this... it is a pain but it is that age. Well tonight Daddy was brushing his teeth and Harm and the Cupcakes were sitting on the bed. You guessed it, I came into the room with Harmon butt naked and two twins also diaperless! He had 3 diapers off in under 3 minutes... the boy has skils :p

Free Toddler, for a good home...

I love my son. I really do but somedays I'm ready to put a sign in the yard that says "free toddler to a good home". Normally I am able to keep the house very child proofed but being on crutches and limited movement I've not been able to keep Harmon out of things. Since my surgery he has managed to:
  1. Break the wireless card making my work computer so now it is unable to connect to the internet
  2. Break the cord to my said work computer so I can't even charge it now.
  3. Kidnap my beautiful new camera Chris got me and hide it a secret place for a week.
  4. And than last but not least he somehow broke my IPhone last night!
So right now I am both phoneless, frustrated, and ready to sell my toddler. Granted I know the minute his cute grin comes out I will fall madly in love with him again and all will be forgiven. Chris' mother says Harmon was just like Chris when he was... I've got my work cut out for me!

I can't hear you!

Today we went to a specialist for Harmon's ears. He was shocked that he had so many ear infections but only now had been reffered. So Harmon is going to need to tubes placed into his eardrums so he can have his ears drain all the puss when he gets sick. Poor guy will have to be put under BUT it is supposed to be an easy procedure. Ultimately this will allow Harmon to hear better and be able to develop his speech. So hopefully all will be well that ends well.

You go girl!

Today I was sooooo proud of Rachel. She rolled over on her own!!! No help from me at all. This is really amazing b/c she is only 4 mos and as a premie developmentally she should be at 2 mos. My little girl is rocking it!

Almost there!

Here we go she did it!

Callum may not be interested in hitting milestones but he is still as charming and cute as ever. He still has plenty of time before he is considered "delayed".

Laughing babies...

Rachel Smiling

Today was cute. Harmon was perched over the twins on our bed and they were cooing. This made Harmon laugh. Harm's laughter made them smile. I loved that moment. I love their smiles. These days the babies smile a lot. I think Rachel looks like a nymph smiling and Callum looks Harmon did.
